How to Get Cheap Diapers in Bulk (Save a LOT of Money!)

Find out how I saved over $200 on diapers alone in the first year!

I think you’ll agree with me when I say:

Spending money on diapers stinks.

The average family goes through more than 2500 diapers in the first year, and baby won’t be fully diaper trained until they’re three years old. That’s a lot of money to spend on anything, let alone something that goes in the trash.

Today I’m going to show you how I saved $246.51 on our diaper bill in my son’s first year.

And anyone can do it!

Below are the weekly diaper deals found on Amazon. These are some of the best deals you’ll find online, bar none! I update it weekly with the latest sales, so it’s always up to date.

Online Diaper Deals: Updated March 28, 2019.

Here are the Amazon diaper deals of the week: there are some good opportunities to stock up! Please note that these all include the Amazon Family & Prime discounts which usually give you 20% off the listed prices.

To sign up for a free Amazon Family account click here.

There are coupons listed for some of the diapers. If it redirects to a main page of coupons or says an error, then the coupon is unfortunately expired.

How You Can Get Cheap Diapers: It’s Simple

I can hear you yelling from all the way over here:

“Please tell me how I can save so much money on diapers!”

You know what? It’s really simple!

First of all, I simply stopped buying diapers from the store. Yep, you heard me. Buying diapers at places like Walmart and Target is no way to do it. Everything baby-related is overpriced at these stores, and that especially includes diapers.

If you don’t buy diapers from the store, where do you get them? Do you go full-on hippy mode or play Diaper Bandit and steal them as you need them?

Nope! There’s a better way… and it’s online.

Enter The Amazon Family Program

There is a gift from the diaper heavens in the Amazon Family program.

What is it? It’s their subscription service for parents (any parent, grandparent or caregiver can join).

What’s awesome about Amazon Family is that you qualify for 20% off all diapers as a member! And you get next-day delivery; you’ll literally have them on your doorstep tomorrow if you order today.

It’s a paid program, but there’s a big secret here. The first month is free. And this is what we’re going to take advantage of today.

Update: Unfortunately, as of 2018 you now need to subscribe to 5 items to be delivered to get the 20% discount. I recommend also adding things to your subscription like: wipes, laundry soap or dish soap, baby food packets, pet food, etc. Be creative — it’s worth it for the 20% off!

Basically, the way it works is this:

  1. You sign up for Amazon Family: click here for the signup link.
  2. Once you’re signed up, you automatically qualify for 15% off your diapers.
  3. Look at the selection of diapers here. Find your favorite brand!
  4. To get the extra bonus 5% off, select “subscribe & save” when you checkout. This means paying for multiple (2+) deliveries of diapers up-front, but it’s worth it.

That’s it!

To go into more detail, we’re taking advantage of the free Amazon Family trial. Regularly, it costs $99 a year and includes an Amazon Prime membership. But you get a free month when you register, and we use this to order our diapers.

An Amazon Mom membership gets you a 15% discount on all diapers, right off the top. It’s really simple to join, and you can do so in about 5 minutes.

The “Subscribe & Save” and “Amazon Family” Discounts

Amazon currently has two programs that can save you a total of 20% on the regular price of their diapers: the Subscribe & Save program and the Amazon Mom program. Both of these programs can be an excellent value if you’re buying diapers in bulk.

  • 5% discount with Subscribe & Save. The Subscribe & Save program at Amazon will save you 5% off the top of your diapers, and it’s completely free. This program lets you subscribe to shipments of diapers at intervals of your choosing, with free shipping and automatic shipments. Best of all, it can be cancelled at any time and combined with Amazon’s free 365-day returns, there is absolutely no risk. A free 5% off of your diapers, just like that.
  • 15% discount with the Amazon Family program. The Amazon Family program has a number of benefits on the entire Amazon site, such as free two-day shipping. However, the biggest benefit for parents is the 15% discount off the top for any diapers purchased. A one-month membership to Amazon Family is absolutely free, giving you the additional 15% discount on your first order of diapers.

With these two free programs, you’ll save an additional 20% on your diapers, which are already super-cheap. It’s not hard to see why so many parents buy their Diapers on Amazon these days; it’s an excellent way to save money.

How “Subscribe & Save” Works

Being an Amazon Family member gives you 15% off the top of diaper purchases. If you want to save the additional 5% on your diapers, you need to “Subscribe & Save.”

This means you sign up for monthly (or whatever you prefer) shipments of diapers, and in exchange for that you get 5% off the price.
Check out the cheap diaper selection on Amazon right here.

You need to subscribe to 5+ items to qualify for the 20% discount now! This is an unfortunate change to the trick as of 2018, but it’s okay! Just subscribe to other items like wipes, laundry soap or dish soap, baby food packets, pet food, etc. Be creative — it’s worth it for the 20% off!

The Subscribe & Save 5% Off.

Here’s what you’ll look for in the right-side of the screen when looking at diapers:

Just set up whichever shipment you prefer and you’re done! 5% off the top!

Why I Love Amazon For My Diapers

Let me start by saying that no one is paying me to say this. I’m simply amazed at how much better and cheaper is is to buy diapers through Amazon as opposed to elsewhere.

Why do I love them so much?

  • Awesome prices. The prices of diapers when combined with the Amazon Family trick simply can’t be beat. Box stores like Walmart & Target don’t even come close.
  • Their delivery might actually use rocketships. I couldn’t believe how quickly they ship out. With Mom, you get next-day delivery. That means you order today, and they’re at your house tomorrow. I can’t even describe how awesome that is.
  • Free 365-day returns. If you aren’t happy with your diapers for some reason, you can return them at no cost no matter when you purchased them. Totally risk-free.

Why Buying Diapers Online is Better

Diapers in Bulk

These days, most of the best diapers deals can be found online. Stores like Target & Walmart just can’t compete with online retailers. That sucks for them, but it means super savings for us.

Gone are the days when we had to run to the store to pick up an emergency package of diapers. These days, you can order in bulk online and not only save money, but have them shipped directly to your house.

It’s just incredible how much money you can save by skipping box stores and going online to buy diapers. I’d encourage everyone to consider it!

Things To Think About Before Purchasing Any Diapers

Here are some things you’ll want to consider before you purchase any diapers; it can make a big difference!

  • Cloth vs. cheap disposable diapers. This is a difficult decision, and one that many parents have differing opinions over. While you will definitely save money by going with cloth diapers and washing them, it’s obviously not something every parent wants to deal with. The other option is to buy disposable diapers in bulk, which can also save you a lot of money, but not quite as much as going with cloth diapers.
  • Think about your baby, and how many diapers you need. When your baby is very young, he or she will grow very quickly, meaning that you might not be able to use an entire huge box of disposable diapers before they don’t fit anymore. If you think that your baby is soon going to outgrow their current diapers, it wouldn’t make much sense to buy a huge, bulk order of that size.
  • You need somewhere to dispose of them. You can’t just throw diapers in the trash can… it’s going to smell up the place! A good solution is a diaper pail; a special type of can that is designed to hold diapers and eliminate the smells. Highly recommended!

  1. This was great thank you so much me and my husband have a 6 month baby and he just runs through diapers like nothing i wish i knew about this when we had him we spent so much already on it but thanks to you we can save now, much appreciated.

    1. I’m glad you found it useful! A lot of people don’t know how much cheaper it is to get diapers through Amazon compared to at Target or Walmart!

  2. Thanks for posting this. Although I save just as much at Target when I combine sale price, coupons, cartwheel & Target mobile… it takes a LOT of work! And sometimes I am too tired to get to the store when all the stars align for a good diaper deal at Target lol. Heading to Amazon now!

    1. Haha, I know your pain. Honestly, there’s really no need to do the whole scrounging for coupons, going all the way to the store thing anymore. And you get them delivered right to your door with Amazon Mom. I know a lot of moms who don’t have a driver’s license, so that’s a huge benefit too!

    1. When you’re looking at a specific pack of diapers, it should show a button that says “Clip coupon” right below the price!

  3. I loved Amazon, but unfortunately, I live in whats considered a remote area, and now the shipping from Amazon is costing me an arm and a leg. My son just turned 2, and is still in diapers, it was only a couple of months ago when they jacked up their shipping charges. Anywhere I shop online now charges a whole lot for shipping, even walmart. Forcing me to purchase diapers locally, which is insane also. I pay $43 for 44 diapers! Any help with finding deals elsewhere would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    1. That’s right, but the trick is to order a bunch during that free month.

Even if you don’t do that, I still find it well worth it to have Mom/Prime account. There are lots of things you can save on and get free next day shipping, like kitchen/grocery/supplies and toilet paper!

    2. I know this was a while ago but I thought I’d clarify this for you or anyone else who might come across this blog and read through the comments.
You do not have to pay to use Amazon after the free month. You put for the membership programs on Amazon like Amazon mom and prime. They are membership programs that offer you additional savings.
You can still shop on Amazon without those memberships and save a little bit with subscribe and save, locking in any sale price you purchased the diapers at. If you use a coupon for the sale you do not get the price and the coupon. You only lock-in the sale price.

  4. I am a grammy with babies in two different places (Cleveland and Atlanta). Can I set it up so that I can have different orders delivered to these two cities? I haven’t looked at Amazon yet… I am being lazy and asking you first!! Thank you.

    1. My daughter’s Great Grandmother lives in Canada/Washington State area and she send diapers from there, so yes, you can just add it to your shipping addresses and during check out you should be able to select which address you would like it shipped to!

  5. I have the prime account. Do I need to subscribe separately fir Amazon mom to get 15% off or will I get it by default?

    1. Sayli, You do need to sign up separately, but it’s totally free if you’re already a Prime member. This is from the Amazon site: “If you’re already an Amazon Prime member and you sign up for Amazon Mom, you’ll receive all Amazon Mom benefits for free.”

      I hope that helps!

    1. Melissa, it’s free for the first month, and that’s why I recommend getting it free and ordering a bunch of diapers, then canceling if you don’t want to continue. Otherwise, it costs about $8.25 a month. I like having a Prime membership anyway so it’s a nice little bonus! :)

  6. Something to consider with the Amazon Prime account – you can cancel your Comcast (or what ever other cable television you have) and stream the video offered with Amazon Prime. Though it’s not for everyone, it does save a lot of money.

    1. Sammy, that’s a really good suggestion! I don’t know about most people, but we rarely watch actual TV anymore. Most of it is done through streaming!

  7. You mentioned that buying in bulk may not work if your baby outgrows the size before you use them all. Well food pantries and such places would love to have the extras donated. I work at a food pantry and we have people needing diapers all the time and since they are expensive we rarely get them donated.

    1. Dawn, that’s something I never thought of and a really good point. I’m sure diapers are always really appreciated, and that’s a really good way to get rid of them. Thanks for the suggestion!

  8. Does the collection of diapers where the discount counts changes a lot? Because now I don’t get discount on the diapers I normally use (pampers cruisers 4) . If it wil change in about a week then it would be great. Otherwise is sucks really because you need to pay a lot for the shipping and without the discount its about the same as in the store.

  9. Pls can It be shipped down to Nigeria or is it better I use a u.s.a home address for the shipping??I mean is the shipping free for prime membership signup??

  10. I have several, several unopened new packs of HUGGIES size 6 diapers that I stocked up on for my twins.
They no longer use them and now I am stuck with box after box full of diapers! I will sell them cheap to help another mother save money!

  11. Great. Thanks for this. So helpful. I have wasted lot of money on diapers for my 1st child, surely for the 2nd this will help. Glad I found you!

    1. We always have and use our Prime account, but if you want to, you can just sign up for the free 1-month trial and order your diapers. :)

  12. I’m wanting to get a subscription for my daughter for her baby shower but the shower is in Nov. and she isn’t due until Feb. How does the subscriptions work?

  13. This is a late comment but needs to be cleared up!
You cannot use Amazon Mom without purchasing Prime membership which is $99 a year! AFTER you get PRIME then you go in and ADD Amazon Mom for free. I don’t consider it free since you pay $99 a year for Prime after your trail.
Sam’s and Costco have diapers in bulk and great prices. Also wipes in bulk! Ours lasted us for a long time.

    1. Kara, the point is that you sign up for the free trial to order diapers, then cancel it. You don’t get charged anything for the trial if you do it before the first month is up.

  14. Thanks for the tip. I have recently been buying mothers touch diapers. Unknown brand from Walmart, great quality and great price. Free shipping too.
